Alpha Ledger vs your prop firm’s dashboard
Your firm’s dashboard is a scoreboard. It tells you the score, not how to win.
Every funded-account programme gives you a dashboard, and for what it does it is fine: current balance, drawdown used, profit target, days traded. It is authoritative about your standing, because it is the firm’s own record.
What it will not do is tell you which of your habits is going to breach it. It shows drawdown used as a number, not which hour of the day generates the drawdown. It shows the consistency rule as a pass or fail, not that you are two good days away from failing it. And when you hold several accounts across several firms, there is no combined view at all.
Alpha Ledger models the programme rules and runs them against your actual trades, so the question changes from "where am I" to "what breaches first, and how long do I have".
Side by side
The same jobs, done two ways
| What you are trying to do | Prop firm dashboards | Alpha Ledger |
|---|---|---|
| Current standing | Authoritative. This is the firm’s own record and it decides the outcome. | Recomputed from your trades and reconciled against it; if they differ, the firm is right and we say so. |
| Which rule is closest | All rules shown flat, if shown at all. | Twenty-one or more rules ranked by headroom, so the one about to bite is at the top. |
| Why the drawdown is there | Not addressed. | Attributed to hours, setups, symbols and behaviours, in dollars. |
| Will you pass | Not addressed. | Monte Carlo over resampled trading days, giving a probability of passing and of breaching, with the assumptions stated. |
| Multiple accounts | One dashboard per account, and usually one login per firm. | Every challenge and funded account in one view, with combined exposure. |
| Choosing the next programme | Marketing pages and a fee table. | A simulator that prices the true cost including expected resets, ranked for your actual trading style. |
| Warnings | Usually after the breach. | Before: a projected daily-loss breach is flagged while the day is still open. |
This page compares Alpha Ledger with a category of alternative, not with any named product. Claims about the alternative are ones that hold for the category generally; individual tools vary.
The other side
Where prop firm dashboards win
A comparison that concedes nothing is an advertisement. These are real advantages, and for some traders they are decisive.
It is the one that counts
The firm decides whether you passed. If our figure and theirs disagree, theirs is the one that pays out, and we show both rather than only ours.
It knows rules we cannot see
Some firms apply internal review criteria that are not published. No third-party model can account for those.
Real-time equity
The firm sees your open positions tick by tick. Our picture updates on sync, so an open position is as fresh as the last sync.
It is included
You already paid for it with the challenge fee.
Setting up a funded account
- 1Add the account and pick your firm and programme from the directory — 84 firms and 98 programmes, each showing when its terms were last checked.
- 2Confirm the starting balance, phase and start date.
- 3Import the trades so far, or connect read-only so they arrive automatically.
- 4The rule panel then evaluates continuously, and the drawdown floor is drawn on your equity curve.
Programme terms change often. Every entry shows the date it was last checked and links to the firm so you can verify before relying on it. None of it is verified by the firms themselves.
